Picture Framing Workshop – Make a wooden frame, cut your mat, backing board and plexiglass and frame your art
Please note this class is exclusively for gender minorities and women, over 18 years of age.
Learn to use the Cahoots framing jig on the table saw to make accurate mitre cuts and walk away with a custom-made frame — to frame your artwork.
What's included: All materials for a custom-sized frame up to around A4 size: timber moulding, backing board, mat board, plexiglass & hanging hardware. Snacks and treats provided by Cahoots for tea breaks.
We have a selection of different mat boards, mostly whites/offwhites, but also a few misc colours. (If you are after a particular colour mat board, you will need to bring your own). We also have a selection of timber mouldings, but if you have something particular that you want to use, you are welcome to bring your own.
What to bring: Your artwork (or its measurements) if you want to go home with a finished, ready-to-hang piece. We'll also have the opportunity to cut mats and plexiglass on the day. Bring your lunch — there's a microwave and toastie maker on site.
What you’ll take away: not only your own custom-made frame, but also the skills and confidence to use our tools and jigs to make more of your own frames in the future.
Want to go bigger? You're welcome to make a larger frame — we can supply the timber moulding, but you’ll need to bring your own mat board and backing. Get in touch if you have questions.
